Booze and Cigarettes

Anyone stocking up real heavy on booze and cigarettes for SHTF times?

We arent drinkers or smokers but I am stocking up heavy on these items especially cigarettes because the price continues to rise and even if the shit doesnt hit the fan I can make good money reselling them cheaper than they will cost in the store in a few years. They keep for 8 years or more in the right conditions according to a tabacco industry worker that I spoke to before making my investment.

When and if the shit does hit the fan those with the booze and smokes will become the new Donald Trumps. Since I dont drink or smoke I wont be pissing away my stock or my money.

I also have hundreds of cases of the small airline size bottles of various types of whiskey etc, these will be worth their weight in gold as people seek to numb themselves from the misery of living in SHTF times.

Have not really stocked up, but learned how to make my own. Have tobacco seeds, and wine making equipment.

+1

a week after TSHTF, if supply lines are down, people will be jonesing for cigs and booze

BUT

you better have something handy to protect it with when trading/bartering
and when you tell people " it's all gone " people won't believe you, and will want to check for themselves

booze and cigs would be my 2 top barter items immediately after TSHTF, but they also come with caveats

Go to sciplus.com and type "bottles" in the search box.

BTW I hope nobody is buying commercial booze and paying taxes on it. All you need to store are sugar, yeast, some copper pipes, and an old pressure cooker. Instructions are here.

Saul, I look in people's recycle bins for empty booze bottles. Those can be filled with your mash and who is the wiser?

My cousin owns a liquor store and ordered them for me wholesale price, said he would buy them back from me in a few years if nothing happens and I dont need them so I figured I couldnt lose and went for it. Booze is likely the number one barter item in a collapse followed very closely by cigs and prescription painkillers.

Yea since those likely jonesing the most for them will be those addicted to them they would likely turn voilent to get their hands on them in a pinch.

The small bottles are nice to have around whether to drink or barter with. Should be able to order at any liquor store and ask for a wholesale price.

you will want to stay away from slinging painkillers, when you are attacked/robbed few will care or help, Opiate addicts are some of the most violent when deprived, BEWARE. a cigarette addict will be very unlikely to try and hurt you to get a smoke. less used pipe tobacco, snuff and beech nut will keep them civilized until they either quit or severely cut back. Alcoholics are a mixed bag, some just curl into a ball and weep, others steal and cheat to get their booze.

Wait.

Wait.

Wait.

Let others take the extreme risk of setting up the black markets and distribution channels.

Wait

Let others who has supplies get over run or robbeed by zombies who found about there stash.

Wait.

Wait.

Wait.

Establish relations with somebody who has done a few deals....... lean on their infastructure to get your deals done.

The key trait is to WAIT .........observe what happens ........gather facts ....... THEN ACT.

Oh yea I am not in to dealing drugs I was just saying they will be worth a lot as barter items also. I stick to the legal stuff, chickens, silver, beans, rice, bullets, booze and cigs etc.
